This pandemic is asking everyone to change plans. For me, a gab year in Latin America won't be possible but hopefully this summer roadtripping through some European countries will be an option. What countries are best for hitting the road with a van? Besides, I was wondering what are good (&cheap) companies to hire a van? Any other tips are also welcome, thank you so much! X

I would recommend the coast of Portugal (especially the route of Costa Vicentina) and the south of Spain. I went on a road trip in the begining of this year and I visited some of these places. Definitely worth it!!!
But tbh one day I would love to go on a bigger road trip and visit some more places in Europe, it must be awsome!!!
I would personally recommend Slovenia for so many reasons. Beautiful scenery, wildlife, food, lakes and caves and amazing people! Italy is also great!
Another Dutchie! Totally agree with the recommendations of Nikki and Mandy.
I would like to add Scandinavia to the list of recommendations. Same warning as Nikki: I am not sure when they will fully open their borders so please check that before you go. Nevertheless I can really recommend Norway and Sweden for roadtrips. I did them with a car instead of a van, but I had bad experiences with Hertz in Sweden so I can only recommend to not rent with them .
If you (or anyone else) is interested in my tips and itineraries for Norway and Sweden let me know! I can also make a different post with a cost breakdown if that's something your interested in. Furthermore, some cool cities to hit up in that area are Helsinki (Finland) and Tallinn (Estonia), but I didn't do them by car/van.
Also if you are looking for some nice spots to visit in France, please ask me! I spent every summer in France in my childhood so I cannot give you a cost breakdown but I still know a lot of cool areas. Same goes for the Netherlands :)
I totally agree with Nikki's recommendations (I'm also Dutch😉). I do want to add one more to the list though, Slovenia!! In my opinion it has everything for the perfect road trip: mountains, lakes, waterfalls, amazing people, cute villages and beautiful national parks + it's very affordable.
I wish you a lot of fun on your roadtrip!
I live in the Netherlands so of course I could not leave the Netherlands out (it actually is a beautiful country as long as you skip the big cities (w a van)). Germany is absolutely gorgeous just as France, belgium (to cross), Austria, Switzerland. have give you a warning though since not every border in Europe is opening for tourists (talking about hotspots and campings) & since a lot of people don't go to a different country it will be hectic as hell on the highway so try to avoid it! Luxembourg is btw also underrated and so cool!
