Hey, I had plans to head to Mexico in Jan/Feb 2021 and then travel through Central America followed by Colombia, Equador and Peru. However, I am worried about the current situations there. Are things going to be opening up anytime soon? I am very conscious that I don't want to go unless things are relatively back to normal because I've spent so much time saving my money and therefore want to be able to see all the sites, have access to all the hostels and go when there will actually be other travellers around! Does anyone know how these countries are doing at the moment and what the situation is like?
Thanks :)))
I need to by these pods for the best essay writers because they have been asking me for it for such a ling time. I am sure that they would be really happy to know that I have finally got it for them.
Hi, I would recommend you join Facebook groups e.g. Backpacking South America or South America - Backpacker as you can find constant updates there about what the situation is like in each country. I get the impression that things are pretty bad in Latin America in general and they don't want to let tourists in any time soon and risk us bringing the virus and making things worse. Also as Debora said most of these countries don't have the same social security that we have in European countries for example so the social effects of the virus have been pretty bad as well, and worst case scenario could lead to political unrest if things don't improve soon...
I can only speak for what I've heard from other travellers but I think spring 2021 is probably the earliest we can hope for, things could open earlier than that but as you said it wouldn't feel like normal travel. I share your frustration because this year was my post-uni gap year, I worked 2 jobs for 8 months and did nothing but work to save for this trip and now it feels like it was all for nothing 😅 however of course I don't want to complain as so many people have it so much worse and these countries need to prioritise keeping their people safe
As a Brazilian, I can speak for my country, but I don't see the situation on my country getting any better any time soon. Because half of the people are self isolating themselves. But as most of the people in LatAm they don't have savings and need they daily money to survive, and as the government don't offer proper support for these families, they need to work to survive. And the situation never gets better. I know it's not one of your picks, but this may be the situation of them.
