My brother and his partner are getting married in Brazil in May. What is traveling in South America like now/ in the near future? I know this original post is old, but hope that maybe someone might see this comment. I'm interested to know what other people's experiences have been.
As a Brazilian, I would suggest you to pick your countries wisely! Of course, we have no way of foreseeing the future, but you can pay attention on a few things.
Right now, as far as I know, Uruguay and Argentina are the more "safest" countries on this aspect. If there is a vaccine at the time, probably Brazil will be one of the first to get (definitely it's not on good behavior).
I was planning on visit Canada this July, but we had to postpone it, as well. Hoping it will be ok to travel next year.
I'd wait until after the Covid-19 is fully over and its not hanging over everyone's heads. Though I plan on traveling within the U.S. within the next year, I don't want to remain locked out the United States and have to wait to go home if something bad were to occur with the virus making travel restrictions reinstated or being barred from working.
It's certainly not impossible! I was chatting to my friend who works in a hostel in Colombia and he said they should be opening this September. But of course we don't know about the possibilities of 2nd waves or anything yet so if I were you, I'd carry on planning the trip but just not book anything in advance!
I really hope so... I'm from Chile and I often take my vacations on february too. I'm thinking of going to Ecuador, Colombia or Brasil, but the first country was VERY affected by the virus and for humanitarian reasons maybe I'll not be able to go there soon. All we are able to do now is have hope and dream with a better future, even if that affects our trips, but political issues in Ecuador and here in Chile are very serious and people have to be heared by the goverments! Even before and sure after the pandemic thing were very tense in both countries, so keep that in mind.
